Last Tuesday I went on a little trip to Bournemouth with my family. The main reason for this was to visit the university as I didn't want to decide on my final choices without visiting each of the universities i've picked first. We stayed there for three days as it takes around four hours to get there so it's easier to stay over for a couple of nights rather than drive all that time in one day.
We stopped at the services in Oxford on the way and I picked up More Magazine and my favourite Vanilla & Maple Syrup Smoothie from M&S. Pretty sure it's almost the same recipe as the Innocent Vanilla Thickie only a lot cheaper, especially if you get a huge bottle like me!
We stayed in a little hotel just outside the centre of Bournemouth; it wasn't anything special but my room was nice although i'm not sure about all the crazy colour combinations going on with the cushion and the wallpaper! The breakfast tasted good; Pain Au Chocolat and Croissants make a nice change from Special K!
I seriously love the little coffee biscuits they leave in the rooms! I've already been and bought myself a bigger packet from ASDA because i'm greedy like that!
On Tuesday evening we went out for a meal at Ask which is a chain of Italian restaurants that you're probably familiar with. I've been to Ask in a couple of other places so we thought it would be a good place to opt for as the food is always nice and there are often discount vouchers to get the food a bit cheaper. We shared a Tropical and a Margherita pizza which both tasted lovely; I wish I knew their recipe as i'd love to make one at home as the base is perfect!
For dessert I opted for their Lemon Tart which i've had before as I love it's zesty flavour! I prefer to have something fruity for dessert as I always feel really full if I have something chocolatey although my brother's 'Chocolate Nemesis' did smell good!
I didn't get the chance to take any photos of Bournemouth itself as it rained all day on Wednesday which was the only time I could have taken any! On Thursday it was sunny which is typical as I spent half of the day sat in the car travelling home instead of enjoying it!
It was really nice to have a little break and spend some time away from home as I haven't been on holiday for about two years! I liked Bournemouth and I could see myself living there for uni; I just need to decide whether I would be happy living so far away from home and if I can get the grades to get in.
Sounds like you had fun :) That pizza picture is making me very hungry..
ReplyDeleteI've been to Bournemouth (long time ago..) and I loved it!! I'm sure you could get the grades if you wanted to go!!

ReplyDeleteWhat are you thinking of studying at bournemouth? I went to the arts institute there (right next to the uni) and it was great, both places are so welcoming and the whole town is a lovely place to spend time as a student! There's enough 'studenty' things to do, and if thats not your thing its just great to wander round and there's so many beautiful places near by!
ReplyDeleteHope your decision isn't to hard :) good luck with it x
Goodl uck with your uni choice! :D. That pizza looks amazing, I don't have an Ask near me :(.

I love Bournemouth, i have a friend who lives there so have been quite a few times visiting him. The nightlife is good and the beach is fab and the shopping isn't bad either! x
ReplyDeletewe were going to do the same with my universitys :)
ReplyDeleteSo glad you liked the uni. As a current student at Bournemouth Uni(I'm in my placement year for Events Management at the moment but go back in Sept for my fourth year) I'd say that BU is fantastic. It's great to revise for exams on the beach, the summer ball is fantastic each year, nightlife is fab (something every night of the week) and there's loads of things to do around the area with fabulous shopping, cinemas etc and it's a train journey away from many other great places such as southampton (shopping), portsmouth (attractions), weymouth (voted one of the best beaches in Britain) and you can get to London within a couple of hours.
ReplyDeleteIf you want to ask any questions about my course (if that's the one you've chosen) or another course, I can try my best to answer them.

That lemon tart looks so tasty! Sounds like you had a really lovely trip- best of luck with choosing your final uni! I went to Uni without having ever visited the city (silly really!)and I remember how nervous I was, so having already spent time there and enjoyed it should make the move a lot easier. Also just noticed that you've put me on your favourite blogs list- thank you so much, that really means a lot :) xxx
ReplyDeleteAsk is amazing, although had a few issues with the one in liverpool but won't go into that :P lemon tart looks so yummy. hope you had a nice time, Bournemouth is really lovely. Choosing a uni is such a hard choice but i'm sure you'll be happy wherever you end up :)

I love everything in this post - that M&S vanilla bean smoothie is just heaven, I always buy it at service stations, it makes every journey better! Also the coffee biscuits you get, and the pizza, and the lemon tart - so basically all the food! I want to eat that lemon tart right out of the picture!
ReplyDeleteI am moving to Christchurch in two weeks which is just along from Bournemouth so I'm looking forward to getting to know Bournemouth too! Good luck with your grades.
